Synopsis[]
Gru, his adorable girls, and the mischievous Minions are back with a cast of unforgettable new characters in the blockbuster sequel to the worldwide phenomenon. Just as Gru has given up being super-bad to be a super-dad, the Anti-Villain League recruits him to track down a new criminal mastermind and save the world. Partnered with secret agent Lucy Wilde, Gru, along with the wildly unpredictable Minions, must figure out how to keep his cover while also keeping up with his duties as a father. Assemble the Minions for laugh-out-loud comedy in "one of the funniest, most enjoyable movies ever!"

Production timeline[]
- July 13, 2010: While the first Despicable Me was playing in theaters, a sequel was announced.
- June 16, 2011: The film's release date was specificially modified to July 3, 2013. No further new films were announced until July 23, 2012.
- October 2011: Javier Bardem was negotiating to voice El Macho, but the negotiations failed. Miranda Cosgrove began recording her lines for the film.
- February 2012: Al Pacino joined the cast to voice El Macho. The film was confirmed to have entered animation.
- March 2, 2012: A teaser trailer was released with no footage from the film whatsoever.
- April-May 2012: Steve Carell, Russell Brand, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier and Elsie Fisher were confirmed to reprise their roles as Gru, Dr. Nefario, Margo, Edith and Agnes. Kristen Wiig was cast as Lucy Wilde, and Steve Coogan was cast as Silas Ramsbottom.
- May 3, 2013: Al Pacino was confirmed to have left the film and Benjamin Bratt stepped in to voice El Macho.

The Despicable Me 2 DVD began production of copies on September 13, 2013. It was released in stores on December 10, 2013. Bonus material includes:
