Spike at Your Service is the ninth Season 3 episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to premiere on the Hub Network, and the 10th in production order. Footage from this episode was revealed on December 8, 2012, and the episode premiered on December 29.
Synopsis[]
When Applejack saves his life, Spike insists that he now owes her a life debt and must serve her forever. Applejack is uncomfortable with this arrangement and turns to the other ponies to help her find a way to convince Spike that he doesn't owe her a thing.
Production[]
Spike at Your Service began development on July 29, 2011, when Meghan McCarthy wrote the premise of that episode. The episode was listed as #308 at the time. It moved up to #307 after "Mayor, Maybe Not" was rejected on August 19.
Dave Polsky wrote the full outline for Spike at Your Service from August 2–26, 2011, then the first two drafts of the script from August 30 through September 22 and September 29 through October 17, respectively. On November 2, the episode was pushed back from #307 to #310, following a "third draft" of the script on October 26.
Merriwether Williams revised the script from November 17 through December 9, 2011. Voice recording began on December 15.
The full animatic was submitted for review on March 27, 2012.
A rough cut of the animated episode was submitted for review on August 1, 2012.
Production was officially complete on September 24, 2012.
