Regional differences[]

Of the following facts, these show what is different in the original Japanese version of Super Mario World.

  1. The logo is shadowed, there is no star next to the "96", and the copyright dates are different all on the title screen.
  2. On the sign in Yoshi's House, there is no dinosaur paw print, and Yoshi addresses himself as "Super Dragon Yoshi".
  3. You cannot re-enter castles or fortresses after you have demolished them. To re-enter a castle in the U.S. version, press L and R simultaneously. Posted on July 13, 2004.
  4. In the water levels, Yoshi can eat the Dolphins. This was posted to TMK on November 14, 2002.
  5. The word "BOWSER" is now "KOOPA" on the neon sign of the Front Door in Valley of Bowser.
  6. In Funky (Special Zone 8), there are only three Green Berries, giving you only one additional minute to the time limit. The first six Green Berries in the U.S. version are now red, and only add one coin.
  7. At the end, the coins read "YOU ARE SUPER PLAYER!!", taking off the "A".

All of these other facts were confirmed on TMK as of December 17, 1999.

NES version[]

A bootlegged NES version of the game was released in 1995 by JY Company and Hummer Team in Taiwan. A gameplay video of the final battle was uploaded to YouTube on August 22, 2006.
