The Hub Network's origins date back to October 1996, when it was known as Discovery Kids, a spin-off of the Discovery Channel. The programs that aired there were targeted at children ranging from preschool to elementary age.

The Hub Network launched on October 10, 2010.

One of the Hub Network's most popular programs was My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which is virtually the complete opposite gender of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, its "spiritual successor". A second season premiered in 2011, followed by the third season in 2012. A total of four seasons of MLP: FiM aired on the Hub Network until 2014.

Other than original movies like My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, which premiered on September 1, 2013, the Hub Network also aired Disney movies, such as Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco, the live action 101 Dalmatians, 102 Dalmatians, and Chicken Little.
