Synopsis[]

Taking place immediately after the first film, the end of which introduces The Underminer, the Parr family struggles to maintain normal lives while Helen Parr, also known as Elastigirl, is out fighting crime and campaigning for the return of supers. Meanwhile, Helen's husband Bob Parr, also known as Mr. Incredible, remains at home watching their children Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack, discovering the secret powers of the latter in the process. However, they, along with Frozone, will have to battle the Underminer with a sinister plot.

Production timeline[]

  • March 18, 2014: Along with Cars 3, development dates back to this date, when both films along with the Día de los Muertos film were all nominated for release on June 16, 2017 at the earliest.
  • November 6, 2014: When Toy Story 4 was first announced, it now (unfairly) occupied the June 16, 2017 release date, pushing back all three nominees to November 22, 2017 or later.
  • April 2015: Brad Bird began writing the script
  • May 2015: Brad Bird confirmed that Incredibles 2 would be his next film after Tomorrowland
  • August 2015:The logo was shown at the D23 Expo
  • August 14, 2015: After Coco (the Día de los Muertos film) was scheduled for release on November 22, 2017, this left Cars 3 and The Incredibles 2 with an earliest possible release date of June 15, 2018.
  • September 2015: Brad Bird stated that he was planning to use ideas that were not used in the first film because they were inappropriate.
  • October 2015: Brad Bird confirmed that Michael Giacchino would again compose the music for the film
  • October 8, 2015: After Cars 3 moved up to June 16, 2017, it pushed Toy Story 4 back to June 15, 2018 and Incredibles 2 to a new date of June 21, 2019.
  • October 26, 2016: Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 switched release dates, resulting in Incredibles 2 to now be scheduled for June 15, 2018 and Toy Story 4 for June 21, 2019.
  • November 2016: Pixar announced that Holly Hunter and Samuel L. Jackson would reprise their roles as Elastigirl and Frozone.
  • December 15, 2016: Samuel L. Jackson began recording his lines for the film
  • July 2017:It was confirmed that Craig T. Nelson and Sarah Vowell would also reprise their roles as Mr. Incredible and Violet, and that Spencer Fox, the original voice of Dash, would be replaced by younger newcomer Huckleberry Milner, and Brad Bird and John Ratzenberger were, also, confirmed as reprising their roles as Edna and the Underminer.
  • July 14, 2017: Casting for Incredibles 2 was announced at the next D23 Expo.
  • November 2017: Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener had joined the cast.
  • January 2018: Sophia Bush and Isabella Rossellini would voice new characters Voyd and The Ambassador, while Jonathan Banks would voice Rick Dicker after the character's original voice actor Bud Luckey retired in 2014
