The film takes place in Brooklyn, where Mario and Luigi do business at Mario Bros. Plumbing Services. After a double-date at an Italian restaurant, Spike and Iggy kidnap Mario and Luigi's girlfriends, and the chase leads to the city of Dinohattan. But during the chase, the plumbers are arrested by two police officers, and are placed in a chicken coop-like prison. Later, the Mario Bros. are summoned to the de-evolution chamber, led by President Koopa, the ledaer of Dinohattan, who changes Toad from a human into a Goomba there. When Koopa threatens to do it to the Mario Bros., they instead shove him into the chair and flee from the police station. They steal a police car and begin to escape, with more police cars with real officers in pursuit. Mario tricks the officers by having them destroy each other, and they enter a tunnel to the Koopahari Desert. As the car goes out of control, it falls out of the cave but is caught by the fungus. Eventually, President Koopa captures Luigi with the other girls, and orders preparations for his invasion of Earth. After rescuing everyone Mario uses a Bob-omb to defeat President Koopa, who de-evolves into a Tyrannosaurus rex, then the brothers fire their guns at the dinosaur, devolving him into a lizard, a slug, then to his death form. Three weeks after these events, the TV show Our Miraculous World discusses the topic about how the Mario Bros. saved the Earth and the parellel dimension.

Information about the film was revealed on The Mushroom Kingdom (TMK) web site since June 18, 1998.
