Since April 1999, The Great Mouse Detective was originally intended to be the next Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection title after Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood, but when released on August 31, 1999, the brand had already ended before this happened. This video also ended Generation 2 of Walt Disney Home Video.
