The original soundtrack album for The Lion King was released in July 1994. It was re-released as a Special Edition in 2003, then on digital MP3 in February 2008. There is also a complete score album called Walt Disney Records - The Legacy Collection: The Lion King, which was released on digital MP3 in 2014, 20 years after the film's theatrical release.

  • This is the first musical number sung during the opening of the film, when Simba is born.

  • This song takes place before Simba and Nala go to the Elephant Graveyard.

3. Be Prepared (3:40)

  • Performed by: Jeremy Irons, Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, Jim Cummings
  • Takes place the day before the stampede.

4. Hakuna Matata (3:33)

  • Performed by: Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, Joseph Williams
  • This musical number occurs during the time Simba grows up in the jungle.

5. Can You Feel the Love Tonight (2:57)

  • Performed by: Joseph Williams, Sally Dworsky, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Kristle Edwards
  • This song is played while Simba and Nala fall in love.

6. This Land (2:55)

  • Plays during the time when Simba talks to his father, then decides to return to Pride Rock.

7. To Die For (4:17)

  • Plays during the stampede scene, followed by Mufasa's death.

8. Under the Stars (3:45)

  • Plays during the time when Simba meets Rafiki, and he takes him to where Mufasa is. The last seconds of this score plays during the first parts of the end credits.

9. King of Pride Rock (5:59)

  • Only takes place prior to Simba and Scar's fight for the throne, then cuts to the scene where Simba wins the battle and becomes king.

10. Circle of Life (4:51)

  • Performed by Elton John. This version did not appear in the film.

11. I Just Can't Wait to Be King (3:36)

  • Performed by Elton John. This version did not appear in the film.

12. Can You Feel the Love Tonight (3:59)

  • Performed by Elton John. This version plays during the credits.
